The European Dementia Carers Working Group met in Brussels for their first in-person meeting

EDCWG

On 22 March, the members of the European Dementia Carers Working Group (EDCWG) attended the first consultation in the context of the Pattern-Cog project, which took place in Brussels (Belgium). The consultation was hosted by Alzheimer Europe (AE), facilitated by Soraya Moradi-Bachiller (Project Officer) and supported by AE Project Officers, Daphné Lamirel, Ana Diaz and Cindy Birck, and Dianne Gove (Director for Projects).

During the meeting, Soraya started by giving an overview of the Pattern-Cog project. The members of the EDCWG, which are also members of the Pattern-Cog advisory board, were then asked to share their overall impression of the project. They also provided their views on when and in which contexts dementia risk should be assessed in people without cognitive problems (i.e. cognitively healthy people), and how doctors should go about communicating this risk (e.g. language, frame, manners, etc.). Members of the EDCWG were also asked about the amount and type of information that should be provided by clinicians regarding risk prediction tools.

All the participants actively participated and provided insightful contributions to the consultation, and we are looking forward to the next one!
