Structure

Pattern-Cog is coordinated by Jussi Tohka (University of Eastern Finland).

The overall project consists of seven Work Packages (WPs), which are interconnected. Five are central representing the core scientific work. Another two are instrumental pieces for supporting the core scientific work.

WP 1

Extension of BrainAGE framework and development of MRI-derived local confidence maps

Objectives:
  • To extend the existing BrainAGE framework
  • To develop MRI-derived local confidence maps to detect regional structural alterations

WP 2

Personalised ageing pattern framework based on multi-view learning

Objectives:
  • To develop and validate approaches to combine data for prediction of cognitive decline
  • To develop a multi-view learning algorithm that are adaptable between cohorts

WP 3

High-performance algorithm for screening healthy individuals for risk of impending MCI and subsequent AD

Objectives:
  • To incorporate data measurements to prediction models
  • To validate algorithms for screening healthy individuals for MCI risk based on WP1/2 work in various independent cohorts

WP 4

Personalised ageing pattern framework in cognitive decline/dementia prevention RCTs

Objectives:
  • To test the personalised ageing pattern framework in real-life RCTs data
  • To assess if the personalised ageing pattern at baseline predicts the intervention effect on cognition
  • To access if the personalised ageing pattern over time predicts changes in cognition

WP 5

Ethical, legal and social aspects of personalised medicine in dementia prediction/prevention

Objectives:
  • To support research data management with a focus on GDPR compliance and FAIR data principles
  • To address ethical questions
  • To organise patient and public involvement activities

Lead

WP 6

Communication and dissemination

Objectives:
  • To develop a plan for external communication and dissemination
  • To disseminate project results to academic stakeholders
  • To disseminate project to non-academic stakeholders
