On 11 and 12 February, the European Partnership for Personalised Medicine (EP PerMed) organised its first-ever conference focused on Personalised Medicine Research in Berlin, Germany. The event brought together around 250 international experts in the area of personalised medicine to present and discuss cutting-edge research and successful translation into clinical practice.
The two-day conference offered a comprehensive program that covered a wide range of topics, from cutting-edge transnational research to ethical and legal aspects of personalised medicine. Sessions delved into key areas such as diagnostics, therapy, clinical trials and the methodologies supporting personalised medicine research.
According to Wolfgang Ballensiefen, coordinator of EP PerMed at DLR Projektträger: “As this conference shows, dedicated researchers and innovators are at the forefront of the personalised medicine concept and are changing the way we treat diseases in the present and future”.
The conference provided an excellent networking opportunity for top researchers from Europe and beyond, fostering collaborations to tackle future challenges in personalised medicine and prepare for upcoming funding opportunities.
Two satellite events were held in parallel of the EP PerMed conference in Berlin:
- The ERA PerMed JTC2021 Midterm seminar, by invitation only, where our project coordinator Jussi Tohka had the opportunity to attend and present the Pattern-Cog project, contributing to the conversation on advancing personalised medicine
- EP PerMed Training on Research Integrity, designed for the scientific community in personalised medicine applying to EP PerMed funding or other funding opportunities to explore critical issues related to scientific integrity in personalised medicine related research.
